Our ophthalmologists are certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and are members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Medical Association, and the Johnson/Wyandotte Counties Medical Society.

K. Dwight Hendricks, M.D.

Dr. Hendricks received his M.D. from the University of Illinois and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Kansas in 1983. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He performs LASIK and PRK surgery at Physicians Surgery Center in Johnson County and cataract surgery at Heart of America Surgery Center in Kansas City, KS. He is a founding member and a governing board member at Heart of America Surgery Center.

Dr. Hendricks is also on staff at Providence Medical Center, where he is a past medical staff president. He is also a member and past president of the Kansas City Society of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology.

Sujote David, M.D.

Dr. David received his M.D. from the University of Kansas and completed his ophthalmology residency at Stanford University. He then completed sub-specialty training in glaucoma and cataract surgery at the University of Utah. Dr. David practiced in Denver, CO for two years before joining the staff at Medical-Surgical Eye Care, P.A. in 1999. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the Kansas City Society of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. He performs most of his surgery at Heart of America Surgery Center and is also on staff at Providence Medical Center. Although he has an active general practice, the emphasis of his practice is on the treatment of glaucoma and cataract surgery.

Brian Stephens, O.D.

Dr. Stephens is an optometrist who received his B.S. at Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, MO. He received his O.D. from the University of Missouri at St. Louis and completed a residency in ocular disease at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City, MO. In 1994 he joined the staff at Medical-Surgical Eye Care, P.A. He is a member of the American Academy of Optometry and the Kansas Optometric Association. Dr. Stephens has a busy optometric practice with an emphasis on family eye care and contact lens fitting.
